The Bike Station is one of few organisations in Scotland that provides a comprehensive package of activities that actively promote cycling, everything from offering low-cost refurbished bicycles, cycle training, bike maintenance training and facilities and practical support to employers, schools and other organisations wanting to promote cycling and active travel to their staff, participants and clients. As a recycling project, we take in many thousands of bikes every year.
 
Information on the speaker:
 
He began his working life working for FoE Scotland, went on to work for LEEP running a nationwide fridge recycling project and has been manager of the Bike Station since 2005. He has been active in campaigning for sustainable transport in Edinburgh for 20 years, including campaigning for trams, for a 'yes' vote in the congestion charge campaign, and against the Edinburgh airport rail link.
